Apple Accessibility Control

Set up secure TTS controls with Apple Shortcuts, AssistiveTouch, and the Streamable TTS Monitor.

Choose the right control

Skip stops the current message after the player receives the command. Enable and Disable change the existing Allow TTS messages setting.

Disable does not stop current or queued speech. Use Skip to stop the current message. An internet connection is necessary.

Step 1:Create your auth token

Sign in as the account owner. Open Tipping → Setup → Apple Accessibility Control. Select Create Auth Token for TTS Control.

Enter a name, such as My iPhone. Create the token and copy it. The full token appears only once.

Keep the token private. Anyone with it can control your TTS until it expires or you revoke it. Never include it in shared Shortcuts or screenshots.

Step 2:Create the Stop TTS Shortcut

In Shortcuts, create a shortcut named Stop TTS. Add a URL action with https://platform.streamable.run/api/tts/skip.

Add Get Contents of URL. Select the URL action output. Expand its settings and set Method to POST. Leave the request body empty.

Add a header named Authorization. Enter Bearer YOUR_AUTH_TOKEN as its value. Replace YOUR_AUTH_TOKEN with your token. Keep one space after Bearer.

Step 3:Show the command result

After Get Contents of URL, add Get Dictionary Value. Read the message key from the response. Pass that value to Show Notification.

Stop requested means that the server accepted the command. The monitor shows Playback stopped after the affected players acknowledge it.

Use the returned message, not a fixed success notification. If the request fails, Shortcuts must not announce success.

Step 4:Create Enable and Disable Shortcuts

Duplicate Stop TTS. Name the copy Disable TTS. Change only its URL to https://platform.streamable.run/api/tts/disable.

Duplicate Stop TTS again. Name the copy Enable TTS. Change only its URL to https://platform.streamable.run/api/tts/enable.

All three Shortcuts use POST and the same auth token. Only the URL changes.

Step 5:Assign the AssistiveTouch gestures

On your iPhone, open Settings → Accessibility → Touch → AssistiveTouch. Turn on AssistiveTouch. Under Custom Actions, assign these Shortcuts:

  • Single-Tap → Stop TTS
  • Double-Tap → Disable TTS
  • Long Press → Enable TTS

Step 6:Test before your stream

Run each Shortcut manually once. Approve the expected access request for platform.streamable.run. Open the TTS Monitor and make sure the player is connected.

Start a harmless TTS message. Open Kick. Single-tap AssistiveTouch and make sure that the speech stops before the message ends.

Double-tap to disable TTS. Press and hold to enable it. Make sure that the monitor shows each setting change.

Use the TTS Monitor

From Tipping, select Open TTS Monitor. The monitor shows active messages, the queue, the TTS setting, and player connection status.

Admin Moderators, Scene Switchers, and Tools Moderators use their own Streamable login. They do not need your auth token. Opening the monitor does not automatically play audio.

Play audio through a Bluetooth speaker

Pair the speaker with the device that plays TTS. On an iPhone, open Settings → Bluetooth and select the speaker.

Shortcuts send commands only. They do not send audio to the speaker. Audio from a remote OBS player does not automatically play on your iPhone.

For phone playback, the owner can select Play audio on this device in the monitor. Keep the monitor open on the speaker-connected phone.

Before using Kick on that same phone, test background playback, message gaps, screen lock, and reconnection. Background browser audio can stop or pause.

Replace or revoke a token

In Apple Accessibility Control, find the token by name. Select Revoke Token. All Shortcuts that use that token immediately lose access.

Create a replacement token. Update the Authorization header in all three Shortcuts. Run each Shortcut once before your next stream.

Revocation does not stop current speech or change the TTS setting. The token list shows expiration and last use.

If a control does not work

  • For an invalid or expired token, create a replacement. Make sure that all three Shortcuts use the current Authorization header.
  • If Stop requested appears but speech continues, inspect the player connection in the monitor. Reconnect the player before trying again.
  • If Disable leaves audio playing, use Skip. Disable changes the setting only. If the speaker is silent, inspect its paired playback device.
