SRT link builder for OBS and your phone

Make the two links you need to send video from your phone to OBS over SRT on the same Wi-Fi: one for an OBS Media Source and one for your phone app. The links are built in your browser, and what you type isn't sent anywhere.

The computer running OBS, like 192.168.1.20.

7654 works for most setups.

1000 ms is a safe start on Wi-Fi.

10 to 79 characters. Use the same one in your phone app.

OBS: Media Source → Input

Enter your computer's IP address to make this link.

Uncheck Local File and set Input Format to mpegts.

Phone app: SRT URL

Enter your computer's IP address to make this link.

If your app asks for the address and port separately, use the same values.

How to use the links

  1. Find your computer's local IP. On Windows, run ipconfig and use the IPv4 Address. On a Mac, open System Settings > Wi-Fi > Details > TCP/IP.
  2. Add a Media Source in OBS. Uncheck Local File, paste the OBS link into Input, and set Input Format to mpegts.
  3. Add the phone link to your app. Choose SRT in your app's stream settings and paste the phone link. If you set a passphrase, enter the same one.
  4. Start streaming from your phone. Your video appears in the Media Source.

Before you go live

  • Your phone and computer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Your firewall allows incoming UDP traffic on your port (7654 unless you changed it).
  • If your phone reconnects while OBS is streaming or recording, the Media Source may not pick the signal back up until you stop streaming and recording. It's a known OBS issue.

Streaming from a different network?

A local IP only works inside your own network. To reach OBS from somewhere else, forward UDP on your port to this computer in your router, or send your phone's video to a cloud server instead. With Streamable, your phone sends to a cloud server you can reach from anywhere.

Questions

Why is the latency number so big in the OBS link?

OBS reads SRT latency in microseconds, so 1,000 ms is written as 1000000. The builder converts it for you.

Can I use 127.0.0.1 or localhost?

No. Your phone needs your computer's address on the local network, like 192.168.1.20.

Which phone apps work?

Any app that can send SRT, such as Moblin or IRL Pro. Use the phone link, or enter the same address and port if the app asks for them separately.

Is what I type sent to Streamable?

No. The links are built in your browser, and what you type isn't sent anywhere.

Do I need a Streamable account?

No. The SRT link builder is free and works without an account.
