Who is 6ix9ine?
6ix9ine, also known as Tekashi 6ix9ine, is a rapper from Brooklyn, New York, who streams live on Kick, where the channel had about 78,000 followers as of October 2026. His YouTube channel has about 23.2 million subscribers.
He broke through in 2017 with the single Gummo, followed by the Day69 mixtape in 2018 and three studio albums, the most recent of them a reggaeton record in 2023. The Kick channel is the newest part of that career, and its short-form streams mix IRL broadcasts with other categories.
How did 6ix9ine start rapping?
According to Wikipedia, the artist born Daniel Hernandez grew up in Brooklyn and began rapping in 2012, after meeting Peter "Righteous P" Rodgers at a vegan bodega in Bushwick. The stage name Tekashi69 came from his love of Japanese anime and the yin-yang symbol.
His first big credit came in April 2017 with Poles 1469, a collaboration with Trippie Redd. That November he released Gummo, his first commercial single, which went on to peak at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earn a platinum certification.
From Day69 to a number one single
Day69 arrived on February 23, 2018 and debuted at number four on the Billboard 200. Its singles Kooda and Keke both reached the Hot 100. In July 2018 he followed with Fefe, featuring Nicki Minaj, which peaked at number three and later passed five times platinum.
His debut album Dummy Boy came out on November 27, 2018, with guests including Kanye West, Lil Baby and Tory Lanez, and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200.
In 2020 he released Gooba in May and Trollz with Nicki Minaj in June. Gooba reached number three on the Hot 100, and Trollz debuted at number one. His second album, TattleTales, followed on September 4, 2020 and debuted at number four on the Billboard 200, topping the Independent Albums chart.
Leyenda Viva and the move to Spanish
On June 16, 2023 he surprise-released Leyenda Viva, his first reggaeton album. It runs 11 tracks and about 31 minutes, with guests including Lenier, Yailin La Mas Viral, Grupo Firme and Angel Dior. Five singles led up to it from March 2023, starting with Bori featuring Lenier.
The album reached number 19 on the US Top Latin Albums chart. The videos did better on YouTube, where his channel lists Pa Ti with Yailin La Mas Viral at about 170 million views, Bori at about 135 million and Shaka Laka with Kodak Black at about 98 million.
